A Lasting Partnership: Solar at Northwest Indian College
Ecotech Solar is honored to celebrate over 15 years of partnership with Northwest Indian College (NWIC), a relationship grounded in shared values of sustainability, education, and tribal sovereignty.
Our work together began in 2010 with the installation of NWIC’s first solar array—a 7.9 kW system made up of forty-four 180-watt panels. While modest by today’s standards, this project marked a powerful milestone in the college’s dedication to clean energy, tribal capacity building, and stewardship of natural resources.
Since then, we’ve continued to support NWIC’s innovative approach to solar education and workforce development. This includes supplying equipment for a mock rooftop training platform and providing ongoing technical assistance to support solar learning for tribal students.
In 2023, we partnered once again to install a 108 kW system on the college’s library building. This project, supported by grant funding, ensures long-term performance and educational opportunities. We also proudly collaborated with Lummi Nation’s Tribal Employment Rights Office (TERO) to involve tribal employees on the installation—offering real-world training opportunities while enriching the build team with local expertise.
This long-standing relationship reflects our deep commitment to respectful, community-centered partnerships. We’re grateful to continue walking alongside Northwest Indian College as they lead the way in Indigenous-led climate solutions and renewable energy education.
