Guemes Island General Store Goes Solar with Ecotech
We’re thrilled to highlight the recent solar installation at the Guemes Island General Store, a community hub now powered by the sun. With a 118 kW system made up of 320 solar panels, this project is one of the largest privately owned solar arrays in the region—second only to Chandler’s Square in Anacortes, another Ecotech installation.
Store owner Mark Linneman, a longtime believer in solar, saw an opportunity to make the store more sustainable while saving on energy costs. With the help of a federal grant and tax credits, the project became financially feasible. “With grant funding and current tax breaks, it seemed like a great path forward for the sustainability of the general store,” said Linneman.
Now live, the system offsets the store’s annual electricity use and even sends excess power back to the grid. As with all of our commercial projects, we tailored the system to meet the store’s yearly energy needs—offering long-term savings and energy independence.
Solar systems like this show what’s possible when financial incentives, community commitment, and clean energy come together. We’re proud to be part of this journey.
