Are panels recyclable?

Responsible Solar Starts With Installation — and Ends With Recycling

Yes — solar panels are recyclable, and responsible end-of-life handling is an important part of solar’s long-term sustainability.

Most panels are made from materials like glass, aluminum, silicon, and trace metals — all of which can be recovered through specialized recycling processes. And while solar panels typically last 25–30 years or more, recycling solutions are already in place for when that time comes.

At Ecotech, we work with recycling partners through our distributor network to ensure that any panels we remove — whether due to damage, upgrades, or system changes — are recycled properly, not sent to a landfill.

Washington State is leading the way with legislation that supports solar panel recycling and requires manufacturers to take responsibility for their products at the end of their life. It’s part of a growing effort to make sure clean energy stays clean from start to finish.
